On Saturday July 8th friends of the Bodie Hills Conservation Partnership joined us for a joint hike with the Sierra Club Range of Light Group to the summit of Bodie Mountain, at over 10,100 feet elevation. We had great weather in between summer thunderstorms and were able to enjoy a pleasant 6+mile roundtrip hike to the top to enjoy amazing views of the Bodie Hills, Dry Lakes Plateau and Beaty Peak, the Sierra and Bodie State Historic Park. Our route took us through an incredible field of the native Andersons white lupine, as well as many seasonal wildflowers including Indian Paint Brush, sulfur buckwheat and owls claw, a beautiful yellow aster in the sunflower family.
