Bodie Hills Stewardship Day at Bodie State Historic Park Saturday August 5th

Join us August 5th 2017 at Bodie State Historic Park to help us steward these amazing public lands and spend a day in the Bodie Hills.  We will help care for this unique and special place by removing unnecessary fences that disrupt wildlife movement.  Please wear work appropriate clothing including long pants, hat, and closed toed shoes.  Tools and gloves will be provided.  

Volunteers will get a light breakfast, lunch, raffle prizes and a free entrance day to the park along with a free interpretive tour after lunch.  

Partners include BHCP, Friends of the Inyo, Bodie State Historic Park, BLM Bishop Field Office and the Bodie Foundation.

Meet at the Red Barn at Bodie State Historic Park at 8:30 am on Saturday August 5th.

Join us on Friday July 14th for a hike in Rattlesnake Gulch

Friday July 14th, explore the southern end of the Bodie Hills at Rattlesnake Gulch.  This hike is mostly a cross country scramble among traces of the 1860's mining town of Monoville amid wonderful spheroidal weathered granite.  Gorgeous views of Mono Lake.  4 mi RT, 500' gain.  Bring lots of water, lunch, hat, HIKING BOOTS. Saturday July 8th 2017 Join us on a tour of the Bodie Hills with the California Native Plants Society

Join the BHCP and CA Native Plant Society for a trip in the Bodie Hills. Leaders: Ann Howald and April Sall. This will be a driving loop trip going in on the Masonic Road and returning on the Aurora Canyon Road. Meet at 9 am at the Bridgeport Forest Service Ranger Station on Highway 395, a few miles south of Bridgeport, CA. 

We will travel along Masonic Road and be stopping to look at pinyon-juniper woodland, seasonal wetlands, aspen groves, and montane sagebrush scrub. Easy walking. An all-day trip so bring lots of water, lunch, hat, closed toed shoes. High clearance vehicles needed and carpools encouraged. Saturday October 18, 2014: Indian Fire Bitterbrush Planting

Join the Bodie Hills Conservation Partnership and the Bristlecone Chapter of the California Native Plant Society as we assist the BLM with re-planting Bitterbrush in the footprint of the Indian Fire, south of Mono Lake. 

Bitterbrush is vitally important forage for mule deer and pronghorn antelope. Volunteers will assist with planting and watering Bitterbrush in an area burned in 2012. This will be a fun project in a spectacularly beautiful area.

Sat Sept 27, 2014: National Public Lands Day Stewardship Project

Volunteers will remove about a half-mile of barbed wire fence from a sage ground lek (strutting ground). The group will also remove vegetation from around historic building and structures to remove hazardous fuels, as well as conduct a general site clean-up.

Participants should bring sturdy shoes/boots, pants, long sleeves, gloves, a hat and sunscreen. BLM and the State Park will provide all necessary tools. 

All volunteers will have free entry into the State Park. The site managers will provide a BBQ lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks to the volunteers. Those interested are welcome to attend a free tour of Bodie State Historic Park at 1:30 p.m.
