On Sat June 1st the CA Native Plants Society took members and friends out for a lovely day in the Bodie Hills.  The weather could not have been more spectacualr and spring was in the air. The group began on Masonic Road north of Bridgeport and traveled along to Chemung Mine and Pond for a great botanizing and birding stop in the northern Bodie Hills.  The group enjoyed majestic fields of Indian Paintbrush in shades of red, orange and yellow blanketing the hills sides near Mason Mountain.  The fascinating and primitive Brown Peony, rare for the region, is always a delight to see in bloom.  The day was truly magical.  A full report and plant list from the trip is coming soon.
